SWEDEN. The organisation Djurens Vänner (Friends of the Animals) in Nässjö have alerted the public that animals are being mistreated.
Chairman Annica Sjöberg says that people have notified them of cases where children and teenagers are tormenting hedgehogs, young hares and other wild animals. They use them as footballs, poke them with sticks and try to impale them. This have been going on for years, but Annica estimates that it has become worse.
The organisation have visited the scools in the city to inform the pupils how one should treat animals and what the laws in Sweden says about this. The majority of the abuse takes place in the areas where a lot of immigrants live.
The exact same thing have been seen in other cities and in one place swans had been decapitated.
