JAPAN. Hanif Bali, Swedens coolest and most outspoken politician, took a selfie on the Tokyo subway declaring that from now on he’s Japanese.
The joke refers to something Åsa Romson, former vice Prime Minister and former spokesperson for the Green Party, said during a debate between party leaders in the parliament 2012. This is what she said:
When I walk around in Stockholm an ordinary day and meet the residents who live and lead their lives here I namely consider that everybody that rides the subway are Swedish. Then we’re different and for that I’m very happy. We have different cultural backgrounds, we have different genders and we have different preferences. However we’re all Swedes when we sit there in the subway train.
