NORWAY. The Norweigan newspaper Aftenposten have looked into the phenomena of immigrants who go back to the country they fled from for vacation.
They found that one out of four Somalis had gone home for vacation or to see relatives after they got their residence permit. But there are also immigrants from Iraq (71%), Iran (55%), Eritrea (12%) and Afghanistan (40%) that did the same thing. The border police in Sweden raised the alarm in 2011. There have been articles about Somalis that go home on holiday with their small children and some stay for up to six months.
In July 2014 the travel agency Fly Olympic went bankrupt and 1 000 Somalis that was going to return to Sweden got stuck in Mogadishu. And all this happens while people are fleeing from Somalia. It doesn’t add up.
